Our Production Manager (Publishing) has the power to change the lives of millions of children around the world.

Working with our team of highly engaged education, publishing and technology specialists you'll take the lead in delivering a significant pipeline of illustrated children's books and educational resources in multiple languages for our class-leading digitally enabled library. No two days will ever be the same as you lead a team of Production Coordinators and partner with our Program Managers and In-country Content Coordinators to create digital-first and print-ready content to improve learning outcomes for children around the world. In this unique role you'll also have significant editorial control, the ability to design and refine processes, and the ability to influence strategy through innovation and new product design.

Where you come in:

In this full-time fixed-term role (12 months with the strong possibility of extension) based in your choice of Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne, you will lead our production team and interface with specialists from our Program Services and Technology departments. You will join our management team and report to our Head of Publishing.

You will make an impact by:

• Leading and managing the production of new content assets (manuscripts, images, illustrations, digital books, print books and educational resources)
• Leading the editorial processes, project management activities, and creative design of each asset
• Managing the digital workflow and digital warehousing of Library For All's extensive class-leading collection of content assets
• Managing the distribution of digital and print assets through our global retail and wholesale channels
• Leading a globally dispersed team of production coordinators, suppliers and contractors to support our publishing activities
• Managing our global contributor community of creative contributors
• Partnering with our technology and program services teams to drive innovation that will maximise our impact around the world

Does this sound like you?

You are an experienced publishing and production specialist who thrives in a highly innovative, agile, fast-paced and high performing environment. You'll have the experience that comes from having worked in a variety of roles across the publishing industry, the confidence to lead a team of professionals and the appetite for a significant program of asset production. You'll have the ability to lead editorial and design processes, and also have a strong interest in process, automation, efficiency and the use of technology to improve business practices and drive efficiencies. You'll also have exceptional inter-personal skills, well-developed stakeholder relationship management skills and a flexible communication style including in multilingual environments. You will demonstrate an ability to set and achieve audacious goals, whilst leading a team in a rapidly growing organisation with strong ambitions. Importantly, you'll share our passion for delivering better educational outcomes for children using technology as an enabler.

This role requires:

• Significant book industry experience in a variety of areas such as graphic design, printing, editorial, publication standards, or project management
• Significant experience and success in a senior editing and/ or publishing role with a national or international level collection featuring a strong focus on cultural diversity
• Proven success developing complex published materials in a specialised collection environment using project management principles, establishing measurement frameworks and achieving set performance indicators
• Demonstrated understanding of diverse publishing formats, including best practice content, layout, accessibility and compliance to legal requirements across print and electronic texts
• An understanding of extra-textual elements of book publishing, including copyright matters, legal deposit, metadata creation, ISBN reconciliation and marketing support
• Demonstrated knowledge of the impact potential, and environmental limitations, of book production and distribution (ideally) in low-income environments
• Demonstrated ability to lead teams and manage people.
