Practice Development Manager - Child Development - Flexible Location

Save The Children

Join a national not-for-profit organisation and global movement dedicated to improving the lives of children, families and communities. Channelling your technical expertise in child development, you'll ensure Save the Children Australia's programs are high quality and delivered with strong, evidence-informed underpinnings. Your knowledge and experience will contribute to fit-for-purpose service design that position Save the Children as leading experts in the sector to deliver real and measurable outcomes for children and communities.

Save the Children is no ordinary not-for-profit.

We're ambitious, creative and outspoken. We stand up for children's rights. We want all children to be educated, healthy and live a life free from abuse and neglect. We deliver services in every state and territory in Australia and, if there's a disaster - like an earthquake, bushfire or drought - we are there on the ground.

Where you come in:

In this newly created, full time permanent role, you'll develop and embed Save the Children Australia's approach to service delivery to ensure that we provide high quality, contemporary and inspiring service and practice models that meet, and then exceed, client needs. Specifically, the role will focus on child development and participation in society and within Save the Children. Based in any capital city of your choice, you'll be part of our newly formed Practice Team and report to the Head of Practice.

You will make an impact by:

  • Providing technical advice, coaching, and capacity building across the child development portfolio
  • Implementing frameworks and methodologies to be used across Australian Services
  • Developing Communities of Practice to ensure effective knowledge sharing across the portfolio
  • Undertaking targeted quality checks of services, analysing data where necessary and driving any required improvements
  • Ensuring that services are child-centred in their design, and that services are co-designed with children where possible
  • Supporting the design and practice elements of funding proposals

Does this sound like you?

You're an authoritative leader on evidence-based practice in child development. Empathy and highly developed interpersonal skills give you a flair for engaging with differing stakeholders across diverse backgrounds and experiences. An ability to inform, influence and negotiate helps you to form productive and lasting relationships that cement your passion for the sector and drive your ambition to facilitate change.

This role requires:

  • Demonstrated experience working in the children and families sector
  • Strong understanding of child development and the social determinants which influence this
  • Demonstrated experience in building technical capability in practitioners
  • Demonstrated success in implementing practice frameworks and service models
  • Experience using evaluation data and analysis to improve service delivery outcomes
  • Highly developed skills for a variety of visual, written and verbal communications
  • Ability to synthesise large amounts of detail into concise messages and outputs for a wide variety of stakeholders

Working at Save the Children is more than just a job.

It's the feeling of knowing that your work is contributing to making the world a better place for children and working with others who feel the same. In addition to a connection to social causes, you will have access to:

  • Flexible working arrangements and working from home options
  • Access to full salary packaging benefits
  • Internal deployment and development opportunities
  • Additional annual leave options
