Where you come in:

In this full-time, fixed-term position (12 months), based at Deakin University's Burwood campus, you will lead the co-ordination and development of funding applications, tenders, and other business development opportunities. You will work with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that business development activities reflect the strategy and purpose of the Centre and draw on the strengths of non-financial partnerships to enhance and grow financial partnerships.

You will make an impact by:

• Managing and monitoring relevant budgets to ensure they operate within defined financial parameters and targets
• Tracking and identifying global grant funding and tender opportunities
• Building and managing a portfolio of pipeline opportunities
• Managing and overseeing donor reporting requirements, providing support on donor compliance, and acting as a focal point for team members
• Leading and coordinating the writing, review, and quality assurance of proposals, identifying improvements when proposals are unsuccessful
• Meeting or exceeding the financial targets (these are reviewed annually)

…You are politically and culturally sensitive with a thorough understanding and experience of the humanitarian sector. Your outstanding interpersonal and communication skills will see you use your expertise in the sector to build collaboration and shared learning across the region. With a highly analytical mind and ability to predict emerging trends, you are excited by research, policy development and debate across all levels of the humanitarian spectrum.

This role requires:

• 3+ years successful experience in managing government and corporate clients and/or developing new business
• Tertiary qualification/s in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience
• Demonstrated experience in budget/financial management
• Solid understanding and experience in humanitarian work and humanitarian environments
• Ability to travel interstate and internationally, sometimes at short notice
