Where you come in:

Reporting to the Principal Advisor Child Protection, you will support Save the Children to advance Gender Equality, Disability and Social Inclusion into proposals and programming in the Asia-Pacific region. This is a full-time position, based in the Pacific or Australia (with a preference for the successful applicant to be based in one of our country offices in the Pacific (Solomon Islands or Vanuatu) for at least the first year.

You will make an impact by:

  • Implementing Save the Children Australia's Gender Equality and Disability Inclusion Strategy for the Pacific and co-facilitate the Pacific GEDSI Community of Practice.
  • Providing support to develop inclusive and transformative programmes and support gender and disability-specific and mainstreaming approaches throughout the project lifecycle
  • Scoping new business development opportunities including leading and contributing to the development of proposals to secure funding for international programs, including addressing donor requirements on gender, disability and social inclusion.
  • Strengthening the coordination of, and the capacity amongst, the GEDSI Coordinators in our Pacific Country Offices.
  • Improving monitoring, evaluation and reporting on gender equality, disability and social inclusion.
  • Strengthening relationships with civil society organisations, Ministries and regional initiatives focussed upon strengthening equality and rights for women, girls and people with disabilities.

Does this sound like you?

You have expert knowledge and experience of gender and/or disability mainstream and specific approaches, particularly in the Asia‑Pacific context. Building capacity through training and mentoring, your experience has seen you contribute to transformative program design, implementation and monitoring. Your outstanding communication skills, flexibility and resilience will see you achieve great outcomes for vulnerable children whilst working with multiple teams and stakeholders.

This role requires:

  • Demonstrated results in leading gender equality, disability and social inclusion mainstreaming and specific efforts at organisational and programmatic levels
  • Experience in gender and/or disability data collection methods and analysis
  • Demonstrated experience in delivering participatory and/or remote training and mentoring
  • Understanding and implementation of child rights programming and human rights-based approaches
  • Experience in providing expert gender, disability and social inclusion inputs and content towards developing funding proposals and tenders in development and humanitarian programs
  • Accountability in implementing, managing and / or providing technical assistance to programs, preferably in the Pacific
