Where you come in:

In this part-time, fixed term position (26 hours per week, until 30 June 2021, with strong potential for extension), you'll co-ordinate the planning, implementation and review of culturally appropriate developmental play and learning experiences for children. You will provide support and information to parents on developmental issues and make appropriate referrals to other health, education and welfare agencies. You'll develop strong local community networks and be an enthusiastic advocate for the program. Based in Bowen, you'll be part of our North Queensland programs team and report to the Team Leader.

You will make an impact by:

  • Providing group and individual support to families from a child centred approach
  • Building strong, lasting connections with people from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds
  • Supporting families to access the assistance they need, when they need it
  • Providing leadership and support to our Early Childhood Educator
  • Actively encouraging vulnerable, detached or fearful families to engage with our programs
  • Collecting and recording data and information for accountability, evaluation and reporting

Working in a regional program with a high level of autonomy and self-motivation will come naturally to you. You have empathy, a 'can-do attitude' and most importantly, an infectious enthusiasm for your job which will see you actively seeking out families in need of support.

This role requires:

  • Diploma in a relevant field would be preferred, or significant relevant experience
  • Well-developed time management, organisational and data collection skills
  • Proven understanding of child development stages and influences
  • Exceptional communications skills and the ability to build lasting connections
  • Driver's licence
