Where you come in:

In this part-time, maximum term position (30.4 hours per week, through to end of June 2023 with potential for extension), you'll be part of the team delivering Play2Learn supported playgroups and working in the It Takes a Village program across the Greater Shepparton area.

Reporting to the Team Leader, DSS Northern Victoria, you'll ideally be based in the Shepparton area, with a willingness to travel in the region to deliver groups.

You will make an impact by:

  • Building family capacity by using partnership, outcomes based, strengths' perspective and client-centred approaches
  • Identifying where additional assistance and external services are required, providing appropriate information, support and referrals
  • Collaborating with team members to deliver programs and support services, promoting positive and culturally respectful approaches to parenting, and child and family wellbeing
  • Providing holistic case management, delivering support to vulnerable and disadvantaged clients and supporting relationships for favourable client outcomes
  • Identifying strengths, establishing goals for the program and reviewing clients' progress towards these goals

You're a passionate family support practitioner, and you're passionate about early childhood development. Your infectious enthusiasm for your job will see you actively seeking out families in need of support, and you're a team player with an 'all-hands-on-deck' attitude. Importantly, your exceptional cultural knowledge will help you build strong connections with people from a variety of cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.

This role requires:

  • Degree/Diploma qualification in a relevant field such as Psychology, Social Work, Human Services or Social Sciences, or significant equivalent experience
  • Experience in working with low socio-economic and socially or geographically isolated families
  • Demonstrated experience in using a strength-based and trauma informed approach when working with families
  • Strong connections to our local Culturally and Linguistically Diverse communities
  • Ability to speak a language other than English (ideally Dari or Farsi) would be a strong advantage
