Where you come in:

In these part-time (9 days per fortnight), maximum term roles, you'll provide case management and safety planning support to women and children who are escaping or experiencing domestic violence, as part of the QLD Domestic and Family Violence team within our refuge accommodation program. One role is contracted through to January 2023, the other to June 2023, but there is strong potential for extension with both positions. The roles attract some minimal rostered on-call responsibilities, and report to the Team Leader.

You will make an impact by:

  • Facilitating the provision of safe accommodation to women and children escaping domestic and family violence
  • Conducting thorough risk and needs assessments, within a trauma informed case management framework
  • Working with families to source appropriate, safe and sustainable accommodation free from violence and/or connecting families with services to meet their needs

Does this sound like you?

You're an experienced domestic and family violence practitioner with high levels of initiative and flexibility alongside cultural sensitivity and knowledge. You're able to respond calmly and effectively in crisis and complex situations. Importantly, you possess a thorough understanding of the impact of domestic violence on women and children and you're able to apply that within a trauma-informed practice framework.

This role requires:

  • A Bachelor of Social Work, Psychology or relevant Human Service Qualification and/or significant experience in a similar service
  • Knowledge and understanding of domestic and family violence, including the impact on children
  • Experience working with families from diverse cultural backgrounds
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Current drivers' licence
