When disasters strike, children are always the most vulnerable. That's why Save the Children stands ready to deploy, providing immediate psychosocial support and staying as long as it takes to help children and families recover from their losses, restore their lives and build their resilience for years to come. Our Journey of Hope (JoH) program works with children to help them manage the impact of COVID-19 and the 2019-2020 bushfires, led by facilitators who are professionally trained in managing child trauma.
We're ambitious, creative and outspoken. We stand up for children's rights. We want all children to be educated, healthy and live a life free from violence. We run programs in Australia and overseas and, if there's a disaster - like a bushfire, earthquake, drought or conflict - we are there on the ground.
In this casual position, you'll work in partnership with a Senior Facilitator to deliver the JoH program throughout the Tamworth region - covering areas such as Walcha and Armidale as well. You'll work in collaboration with schools and early childhood providers, ensuring high quality service delivery in accordance with the agreed implementation plan. The role is based partly remotely (e.g. from home or on the road, travelling between delivery locations) and partly in schools and early learning centres.
You will make an impact by:
You respond calmly to crisis situations, and your background is in Early Years, Social Work or a similar field. Your strong interpersonal skills mean you'll work seamlessly in partnership with a Senior Facilitator, and you're committed to high standards of service delivery. You're proactive and creative, and you're comfortable working with children of all ages. Finally, you're an independent self-starter who is happy to work remotely when not delivering programs.
This role requires:
It's the feeling of knowing that your work is contributing to making the world a better place for children and working with others who feel the same. In addition to a connection to social causes, you will have access to:
We'd love to hear from you. Submit your cover letter and resume by clicking on one of the buttons in the 'Apply' section.
