Playing is not only a child's right (UN Convention of the Rights of the Child); it's also proven to have significant positive effects on early childhood development. At Save the Children, our play-centred programs support young children to develop their social skills, independence and in turn their capacity to learn. We need you to give these children an experience of quality early childhood education, to develop their appetite for learning and help enable a smooth transition into school.
Save the Children is no ordinary not-for-profit.
We're ambitious, creative and outspoken. We stand up for children's rights. We want all children to be educated, healthy and live a life free from violence. More information on our work across Victoria is available here.
In this full time, fixed term position (6 months, with potential for extension) based in East Gippsland, you'll co-ordinate the planning, implementation and review of culturally appropriate developmental play and learning experiences for children. Working as part of our Victorian Programs team, you'll provide support and information to parents on developmental issues and make appropriate referrals to other health, education and welfare agencies. Reporting to the Team Leader and occasionally working shifts on the weekend, you'll have access to the Bairnsdale office but will also work remotely from home when not delivering programs.
You will make an impact by:
You have experience in early childhood programs, a 'toolkit' of strategies and the ability to think on your feet. Your infectious enthusiasm for your job will see you actively seeking out families in need of support, and you have experience working with children and families from all walks of life and backgrounds. You consider yourself a team player; you love partnerships, collaboration and have an 'all-hands-on-deck' attitude.
This role requires:
It's the feeling of knowing that your work is contributing to making the world a better place for children and working with others who feel the same. In addition to a connection to social causes, you will have access to:
