Where you come in:

In this full-time, maximum term position (through to December 2021) based in Normanton, you'll support the needs of people who have experienced, or are at risk of experiencing, domestic and family violence or sexual violence. You'll be part of the Domestic and Family Violence Services team and report to the Team Leader based in Mount Isa.

You will make an impact by:

  • Routinely conducting risk assessments where domestic and family violence is identified
  • Providing court-based services to victims (primarily women), including assistance to complete domestic violence order applications
  • Facilitating community education sessions
  • Engaging effectively and respectfully with individuals, families, children and young people
  • Developing strong networks and referral pathways internally and externally to support desired outcomes

This role requires:

  • Demonstrated ability to provide support to women and children, particularly to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
  • Strong case management, client engagement and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of relevant legislation relating to domestic, family and sexual violence is desirable
  • Computer literacy and some experience in data collection
  • Driver's licence
