Save the Children's Mooroopna Kindergarten supports young children to develop their social skills, independence, and in turn their capacity to learn. We need you to come on board to implement a nutritious, quality eating program for the children, developing their appetite for healthy meals to support their overall holistic development.

Where you come in:

In this part time, maximum-term position (25 hours per week, Monday to Friday, through to December 23rd 2022) based at our Mooroopna kindergarten, you'll be responsible for implementing and delivering a healthy eating program, with consideration to nutrition and energy requirements as well as cultural and health needs. As part of our Northern Victoria team, you'll report to our Team Leader Early Childhood Education.

You will make an impact by:

  • Developing, implementing and delivering high quality and nutritious meals and snacks for children that meet nutrition and dietary guidelines
  • Preparing substitute meals and snacks for children on restricted diets, such as children with allergies
  • Planning for and purchasing all food and necessary supplies needed
  • Maintaining a clean and safe kitchen, in accordance with Food and Council Authority requirements
  • Collaborating with Dietician/Nutritionist and Educators to develop menu options tailored to meet children's developmental, personal and nutritional requirements
  • Actively supporting every child to participate in the healthy eating program, by promoting and modelling healthy foods

You're passionate about children's education and understand healthy and nutritious meals are the foundation to children's health and development. Your infectious enthusiasm for healthy eating will see you actively plan and prepare meals for the kindergarten children and support their learning about healthy eating. You consider yourself a team player, you love partnerships and collaboration, and have an "all-hands-on-deck" attitude.

This role requires:

  • Experience in menu planning, budgeting, stock ordering and control
  • Experience in dietary and allergy safe requirements and preparing meals for dietary restrictions
  • Excellent knowledge of nutrition and healthy eating
  • Experience in ensuring a clean and safe kitchen environment in accordance with relevant Food Safety requirements
  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work autonomously and within a team
