Where you come in:

In this casual position, you'll have the opportunity to travel to Doomadgee or Mornington Island to support the implementation of culturally appropriate programs for children and families including early childhood education, family support, financial wellbeing or youth development. This role requires a high level of flexibility and the ability to work across a number of programs as required to support local staff during periods of staff leave or vacancies. Based in either Townsville, Mt Isa or Brisbane you'll fly in/fly out to Doomadgee or Mornington Island as needed for up to three weeks at a time.

You will make an impact by:

  • Working across a range of programs as required to backfill and support local staff
  • Supporting local staff with the planning and delivery of programs aimed at children and families
  • Regularly monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of programs

Does this sound like you?

You're flexible and adaptable, excited about the chance to travel for three weeks at a time to support local staff in remote communities. You have experience working with children and families, and the ability to think on your feet, which allows you to find solutions to complex situations. Your cultural knowledge will help you quickly build strong connections with children and families from varying cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.

This role requires:

  • Minimum Diploma level qualification in Community Services, Youth Work or similar field
  • Well-developed time management, organisational, and data collection skills
  • Exceptional teamwork and communication skills
  • A sound understanding of early learning principles
  • Current valid driver's licence
