At its core, climate change is an issue of equity, both within the current generation and across generations. Climate change affects poor and vulnerable children and communities now, and its impact will only grow over time - further affecting today's children and irrevocably altering the world future generations will inherit. Climate change is also one of the principal development challenges of the twenty-first century. Its impacts will be felt globally, ensuring that no one will be immune to its effects.
Save the Children is developing a significant pipeline of climate change projects and working to integrate climate change risks and resilience across our development breakthroughs. The Climate Change New Business Development and Partnerships Advisor will drive an ambitious partnership and fundraising strategy to support and amplify the scaling up of child-centred, community-based climate change adaptation projects through our Green Climate Fund (GCF) accreditation. Through this work you will be demonstrating that children not only have a voice in the future they will inherit, but that they have the capacity to contribute to shaping a world where those most impacted are able to adapt and thrive in the face of unavoidable climate change.
We're ambitious, creative and outspoken. We stand up for children's rights. We want all children to be educated, healthy and live a life free from violence. We run development programs all over the world and, if there's a disaster - like an earthquake, drought or conflict - we are there on the ground.
In this full-time, maximum-term position based in any major city with good international flight connections, you must have excellent internet connectivity to be able to work efficiently and effectively from home. You will be part of our global Green Climate Fund support team and be reporting to our Climate Change Director.
The role will provide strategic support and technical guidance to the Save the Children country offices working to identify, engage and leverage a variety of donors, including corporate, major donors and trusts and foundations as well as institutional and multilateral donors engaged in climate finance.
You will make an impact by:
…You have been working on new business and partnership development for climate change and environmental issues for years. You know the landscape and know the key players. You will be confident and thrive in complex coordination settings with a balanced ability to go between the bigger picture to the details of supporting country office teams with practical hands-on guidance and advice. You are passionate about children, climate change and the environment and know how to engage donors with our work. Your experience of working on climate change and environment issues will enable you to effectively engage with internal stakeholders to clearly articulate why child-centred, community-based climate change programs are an ideal investment choice.
This role requires:
It's the feeling of knowing that your work is contributing to making the world a better place for children and working with others who feel the same. We offer a competitive salary, a friendly and flexible work environment, and great career opportunities.
