Child Support Worker - Ceduna

Where you come in:

In this part-time (26.6 hours per week), fixed term position (until 31st December 2020, with potential extension) you'll work on the delivery, implementation, and review of the program's operations with particular attention to support for children in partnership with their caregiver/s, working with families to help strengthen parenting confidence, knowledge and skills and to develop age-appropriate plans to support infants and children with health and development.

Based in Ceduna, you'll play a key role in working with parents, children and other team members to create individualised tailored support plans, sourcing evidence based or highly regarded information to share with staff and families and determining and supporting referrals to appropriate agencies. Working over a range of shifts, including late afternoon (4pm-8.30pm) and one weekend shift per week, you will be part of our Supported Accommodation team and report to our Team Leader.

You will make an impact by:

  • Identifying and responding to the needs of children in partnership with their caregiver/s
  • Promoting attachment within families
  • Identifying links with other services
  • Providing direction to the Supported Accommodation team around tailored support plans, age-appropriate activities and progress

If we could compose the perfect you:

You demonstrate the highest standards of behaviour towards children in both your private and professional life. You have an honest, friendly approach and can communicate well with people from a wide range of backgrounds. You can problem solve in complex and demanding situations, and you have experience working collaboratively with clients and other services/agencies. You're a strong team player but are also comfortable working alone, and you're happy to work flexible hours and on weekends.

This role requires:

  • Experience working with Aboriginal families
  • Experience working in the Early Childhood sector (desirable but not essential)
  • Passion for children's rights and ability to find flexible solutions
  • Current driver's licence and Working with Children Check
  • Tertiary qualification/s in Children's Services, Social Work, Health or Community Services, are preferred, however consideration will be given to experience or other relevant qualifications
