Where you come in:

We're seeking applications for 2 x Child Support Specialists to join us at Bridges and Gareema refuge as part of the Southeast Queensland Domestic and Family Violence team.

Bridges refuge is advertising for a part time, fixed term position (30.4 hours per week, through to end of June 2023, with strong potential for extension) based in Brisbane., Working between 7am and 10pm Monday to Sunday, you will partner with children and their caregivers to provide short-term crisis intervention and transition support as part of our Child Centred, Trauma Informed Practice Framework.

Gareema refuge is advertising for a part-time position (9 days or 68.4 hours per fortnight secondment opportunity until January 2023 based in Brisbane. Working between Monday - Friday you will partner with children and their caregivers to assess needs, develop, and implement case plans, support transitions and promote the importance of safe and regulated environments through our Child Centred, Trauma Informed Framework.

In both these roles, you will make an impact by:

• Partnering with children and their caregivers as experts in their own lives and clients in their own right utilising a Child Rights Framework, seeking, and amplifying their voices
• Providing case management support (either short-term or medium-term) to children and their caregivers who have experienced domestic and family violence
• Facilitating individual and group activities that will support parent/child attachment and healthy development and transitions
• Enhancing child centred, trauma-informed practice in the region both within Save the Children and more broadly in the community
• Connecting families with the services they need and providing appropriate referrals

Does this sound like you?

You have strong experience within the domestic and family violence sector and are passionate about children's rights. You respond well in crisis situations, and you're skilled at working with children who have experienced trauma. You are a team player but able to work independently and take initiative while working within the role boundaries.

This role requires:

• Degree qualification in Children's Services or relevant Human Services field (there may be some flexibility on this requirement if you can demonstrate significant experience in a similar service)
• Solid understanding of child development and the impact of trauma on children
• Demonstrated experience working with children and young people from a child-centred framework
• Flexibility to work required shifts between Monday and Sunday (Bridges refuge only)
• Current drivers' licence
