Save the Children's Child Wellbeing Programs work in early intervention and prevention, supporting positive educational and wellbeing outcomes for local children at a critical period in their learning and development. Where you come in:

In this part time (22 hours per week during school terms) fixed term role through to end of June 2021 (with potential for extension), you'll work with Primary School aged children and their families. Your main responsibility will be the co-facilitation of Group Wellbeing Sessions to groups of children alongside the Wellbeing Worker. Based in Darwin, you'll be part of our NT Programs team and report to the Team Leader.

You will make an impact by:

  • Delivering activities to children that promote their social and emotional development and wellbeing
  • Preparing and evaluating sessions and program impact
  • Maintaining effective communication with stakeholders, school staff, families and the community
  • Building collaborative relationships with school staff, families and children
  • Fostering maximum wellbeing for every child referred to the Wellbeing Programs

Does this sound like you?

Your ability to relate to children and families along with your community knowledge and connections will be invaluable in this role. You're known for your ability to develop and maintain effective and respectful relationships with parents, carers, children and young people, particularly Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander or Culturally and Linguistically Diverse families. You have a strong work ethic and you can confidently manage multiple tasks at a time.

This role requires:

  • Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families
  • Cultural and/or community knowledge
  • Cert 3 or equivalent qualification in Social Work, Early Childhood or relevant field, would be desirable but not mandatory
  • First Aid Certificate or ability to attain one
  • NT Driver's Licence
  • NT Working with Children Check (OCHRE Card)
