No two days are the same in Save the Children Australia'sFamily and Child Connect (FaCC) program, which provides community-based information and referral advice for families with children aged 0-18 years. Your knowledge of culture and community will see you promote the benefits of the FaCC program to assist families in connecting with relevant programs and services. Provision of outreach services will see you travel regularly throughout the region.

Where you come in:

In this full-time, fixed term position (to end of December 2021, with potential for extension) based in Mount Isa, you'll work under the guidance of the Team Leader as part of a team of people who promote the benefits of the FaCC program. You'll help identify what concerns and issues are impacting on the children / family, and help families get in contact with programs and services available.

You will make an impact by:

  • Assisting with intake / assessment and active engagement tasks as part of a rotational roster
  • Providing families with information, advice, referrals and linkages to relevant services
  • Assisting with promotional activities and events that engage families and stakeholders
  • Engaging with parents, carers, children and young people, especially within Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander or Culturally and Linguistically Diverse families
  • Helping develop and maintain strong network and referral pathways

If we could compose the perfect you…

… You're truly passionate about standing up for children. You have cultural and community knowledge and expertise, coupled with significant experience working with families. Good computer skills will see you accurately enter data and case notes to meet reporting requirements. Constantly seeking to grow and develop, you'll be open to formalising your knowledge through a relevant Certificate or Diploma course, with the support of Save the Children.

This role requires:

  • Existing networks within community
  • Familiarity with services that work for families and children
  • Knowledge of the Queensland Child Protection system
  • Current valid driver's licence
  • Current Working with Children Check (Blue Card)
  • Willingness to travel regularly to rural and remote communities
