  • Generous hourly rate $30.94 per hour plus superannuation and salary packaging.

We are seeking a client focused Employment Consultant to join our Disability Employment Services (DES) team. This is a hands on role working with a diverse range of participants to identify their skill set and address barriers to employment. You will manage a caseload of participants, develop job plans, set goals and facilitate pathways for meaningful and sustainable employment outcomes. You will also provide on the job training for participants and build relationships with prospective employers.

The DES program at SANDBAG has been operating since June 2018. Our existing community services and social enterprises provide opportunities that compliment the delivery of DES. We have designed our DES program in a way that provides participants with wrap around support and opportunities within the one organisation.

SANDBAG works to break down barriers that exclude people from housing, healthcare, employment and meaningful connections. We assist and support individuals to access a safe space, resolve crisis, break social isolation, access health and community services, and build community.

Essential qualifications, skills and attributes:

  • Demonstrated experience and/or relevant tertiary qualifications working with individuals with complex needs, including disability.
  • The ability to support and motivate diverse job seekers facing multiple barriers to employment.
  • The ability to maximise appropriate employment outcomes for participants
  • The capacity to proactively reverse market to prospective employers and build business partnerships.
  • Manage Employer vacancies, referring and supporting suitable job seekers
  • Provide job seekers with the tools and confidence to re-enter the workforce
  • Conduct stakeholder training and education on Employment barriers and community stigmas
  • Strong network of local businesses, training and community organisations
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Superior organisational and time management skills
  • A drive for achieving results and meeting KPI's
  • The ability to work autonomously
  • Resilient, self motivated and have the ability to influence
  • High level of computer literacy skills including MS office
  • A current National Police Clearance (Blue and Yellow Card) or willingness to obtain 
  • A current Drivers License and fully insured vehicle

Highly Desirable:

  • Experience in a similar role (Disability Employment Services)
