Refuge Victoria is a not-for-profit Specialist Family Violence Organisation that provides refuge/crisis accommodation to women and children escaping family violence. We have been responding to family violence and changing people’s stories for over 40 years. Refuge Victoria is the largest provider of refuge/crisis accommodation in Victoria with three core and cluster refuges, 15 crisis properties and nomination rights to 35 Transitional Houses.

Refuge Victoria supports women and children experiencing homelessness from family violence, providing refuge and crisis accommodation, risk assessment and case management support and outreach case management support to clients in transitional properties and/or private rental.

The Role

The Senior Case Manager has responsibility for leading the day-to-day operations of the Wyndham Refuge and case management and outreach programs as well as being involved in and establishing operational procedures. This includes the design and implementation of the service within a feminist framework and ensuring compliance with MARAM and family violence frameworks. The role is expected to meet a range of outcomes and deliverables which align with Refuge Victoria’s Strategic Plan and assist the organisation to achieve its business goals and build a strong and sustainable organisation.

The Senior Case Manager is responsible for the delivery of case management support to women and their children in crisis and transitional accommodation experiencing family and domestic violence, including management of referrals, risk assessment, safety plans, comprehensive needs assessments, case plans, exit plans, advocacy and referral to other relevant services. Further, the Senior Case Manager will oversee the response to intake and referral service and provision of emergency accommodation services and after-hours support.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Assist in the coordination of intake and referral functions and the management of emergency and accommodation response services
  • Provide supervision to students on placement
  • Participation in the back up on-call roster, and some after hour’s service provision as required
  • Ensure high quality and comprehensive risk assessments, safety plans, needs assessments and case plans are undertaken for women and children accessing emergency accommodation
  • Co-ordination of exit planning and handovers to Refuge Victoria’s programs or to external services
  • Provision of daily complex case management support to staff and manage a caseload of complex cases
  • Establish and build community partnerships and attend network meetings.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • hold a Bachelor of Social Work or other equivalent qualification

OR

  • have minimum 5 years relevant professional experience, OR a related qualification as per the mandatory minimum qualification requirements.

OR

  • hold significant cultural knowledge and experience or lived experience, and have faced barriers to educational pathways

The successful candidate will need to have the following:

  • Experience in complex case management highly desirable
  • Experience in supervision or leadership activities desirable
  • Current police check
  • Working with children's check
  • COVID -19 Vaccinated

This role is full-time ongoing and will be rostered on an extended hours roster between 9am - 8pm Monday to Friday, with the expectation of on-call rostering.

The salary is Level 6 of the SCHADS award, and the role commences ASAP. Benefits include RDO and salary packaging.
