Your new role

The role will be based in our busy Preston op shop, working from Tuesday to Saturday every week. The purpose of this position is to oversee the daily operations of the op shop. You will be responsible for meeting monthly budgets, stock management and customer satisfaction, with an emphasis on optimising sales and revenue. The role will also require managing and developing staff and a committed and supportive team of volunteers.

Your day-to-day

A typical day for a store coordinator in Preston involves working closely with a dedicated team of staff and volunteers, receiving donations from the public, sorting them to identify what can be resold, pricing those items and displaying them for sale on the shop floor. By providing and modelling high standards of customer service you would be responsible for constantly building relationships with donors, volunteers and customers.

This vital role requires someone with high energy, “hands-on” approach and safety focus would allow you to lead by example in manual handling and the more physical aspects of accepting, sorting and processing donations; driving and contributing to the operations of our stores. You would be a key contributor to the success of our op shops. You would also be required to work autonomously, as well as creating a fantastic culture and atmosphere within the store.

We're looking for someone with

  • Experience in managing an op shop or retail outlet in fashion, homewares and/or interior design
  • Experience managing a customer service focused business
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • High level interpersonal skills, with demonstrated experience working collaboratively with others and exercising influence in a diversity of contexts
  • Ability to participate collaboratively and constructively within teams of peers, staff and other stakeholders, as well using initiative and effective personal judgement when working alone
  • Proven ability to manage, supervise and provide leadership to a small team
  • Has volunteer management experience (highly desirable)
