Every day of the year, Sacred Heart Mission assist hundreds of people who are experiencing homelessness or disadvantage to find shelter, food, care and support. We are in this for the long haul - we are committed to making a sustainable difference in people’s lives. Everyone is welcome at our table.
If you’re looking for a career where no two days are the same, that has you making a real difference to our residents, this is the role for you!
As a Personal Care Assistant, you will provide high-quality, effective, and supportive care to our residents.
You will be part of a Casual or Permanent-Part-Time roster Monday - Sunday servicing Sacred Heart Mission's residential facility at 101 Grey St, St Kilda, with some weekend work also available. Our facility is state-of-the-art and has views all the way out to Luna Park.
Our residents are younger than those you might find at other aged care facilities, but often have mental health challenges or substance dependencies. This role will therefore be less physically demanding because our residents are more physically able.
Our ideal candidates will be comfortable managing complex behaviours, with knowledge and compassion. You will also be excited to learn and grow your career in aged care, taking full advantage of the great development opportunities this role offers you.
The successful candidate will have:
More important than qualifications or experience, however, is the right attitude. You will show initiative in your work and be enthusiastic about helping people and making their day better.
This is an unparalleled opportunity to grow your skills within a warm and supportive team. If you are interested in further career progression,
A position description is attached.
For more information about the role, contact Margaret Thorpe, Facility Manager, 0438176693.
Shortlisting for this position will commence immediately, and the position may close earlier than stated if we have found suitable candidates.
SHM is committed to equal employment opportunities for all people regardless of age, gender, cultural background, disability, or sexual orientation. We recognise the strength and value in diversity, and actively foster an inclusive workplace. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are encouraged to apply.
All appointments are subject to Police Checks and certain roles require additional pre-screening as outlined in the position description. All NDIS roles will require a NDIS Worker Screening (NDIS) check. Individuals placed on the DWEL will not be engaged by Sacred Heart Mission.
Sacred Heart Mission requires all its staff, volunteers, directors and contractors to be fully COVID 19 vaccinated, recognising the important role this plays in our ability to continue to support the communities we serve and to keep all of us safe.
