About the Role

We are currently recruiting a Finance Business Partner to join our Operations Team in a permanent part-time capacity. Reporting to the Head of Operations, you will play a vital role in partnering with the Operations department to provide all required financial management and accounting, reporting and analysis to support the Operations team in achieving its strategic and operational objectives.

This role will provide you with an opportunity to get involved in more than just the day to day. Our Finance Business Partner will truly collaborate with and be relied upon to support the Operations department in achieving its objectives through collaboration and engagement with all levels of RSPCA Victoria.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Partner with Operational Managers at RSPCA Victoria to develop a clear understanding of the business drivers to provide meaningful analysis and insights to support growth and strategic objectives.
  • Prepare all financial management reports, including interpretation of financial results, forward view projections and variances to budgets and forecasts.
  • Perform financial accounting functions and continual monitoring of Operations related financial controls including controls over inventory, cash and banking transactions.
  • Prepare robust financial budgets and forecasts that support business planning processes, including the delivery of business case scenario modelling, ‘what-if’ analysis, viability information, risks and opportunities analysis.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for continuous improvement and risk management within the Operations team, including the development of procedures to improve the team’s overall financial controls, efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Contribute to the delivery of risk reporting and risk mitigating controls within the Operations team
  • Support the ad-hoc business queries and organisation health indicators to meet the needs of Operations managers for day-to-day operations management.
  • Contribute to a positive and inclusive work environment by effectively communicating and working collaboratively with peers across all departments, and consistently behaving in accordance with the RSPCA Victoria values and associated policies.

Key Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Accounting or Finance.
  • Previous experience in a similar role that requires strong understanding of financial controls, accounting, reporting and business partnering.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present financial information and analysis to various audiences in a manner that ensures their understanding
  • Ability to work in a fast paced and challenging work environment, whilst prioritising tasks and applying high levels of attention to detail.
  • High level literacy, numeracy and problem-solving skills, including intermediate computer skills (including use of Microsoft Office Excel and PowerPoint).
  • Demonstrated experience working collaboratively in a team environment.
  • CA, CPA or equivalent will be highly regarded

Recruitment Requirements:

This position also requires a national police check and valid driver’s license. Travel to our metropolitan sites (Burwood, Epping and Pearcedale) will be a frequent requirement, with some travel required to regional locations from time to time.
