RSPCA NSW is committed to the care and welfare of animals, providing extensive professional facilities, including fully equipped veterinary hospitals and our state-wide shelter network, with hundreds of staff across New South Wales to care for animals.

RSPCA NSW is looking for a proactive and dynamic Branch Manager, pivotal in supporting our Volunteer Branches and Supporter Groups in being an accountable Branch Network that delivers increased positive animal welfare and human wellbeing outcomes. This role is integral in helping to build and strengthen a Branch Network that is deeply engaged and committed to the Community Team’s and Organisational strategic goals while supporting their Initiatives, ensuring a positive representation of RSPCA in their local community.

This is an office based role that is flexible with the ability to be primarily located at our Yagoona office or Illawarra office. This role does require some weekend work and a moderate amount of intrastate travel.

The Branch Manager is responsible and accountable for

  • Achieving targets and KPI’s as set by the Senior Manager
  • Ensuring all volunteers adhere to the policies, procedures and expectations set out in the Branch and Supporter Group Manual and relative role descriptions
  • Providing our Branches and Supporter Groups with the necessary leadership and guidance to ensure they can accomplish their goals
  • Ensuring volunteers feel satisfied that they are making an important contribution to RSPCA NSW
  • Being the branch advocate, conduit and an inclusive leader ensuring our branches feel connected, engaged and included.
  • Supporting and shaping a high impact culture through growing our branch network, where volunteers are valued and appreciated by all staff
  • Influencing and supporting the branch network to aspire to expand and grow
  • Proactively communicate with key stakeholders, as appropriate, regarding concerns, opportunities, changes, performance, and areas for continued improvement
  • Support volunteers to promote and showcase their local impact and successes
  • Support RSPCA facilities, engage and retain new volunteers to drive local animal welfare initiatives and outcomes
  • Review and assess the success of volunteer growth, delivering timely performance evaluations and recommendations
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the Senior Manager, General Manager or CEO
  • Ensure a safe working environment whereby employees and volunteers perform their duties safely and adhere to all WH&S policies and procedures, including responsibility for undertaking investigations and corrective actions to reduce the risk and likelihood of incidents occurring.

Experience

  • Exceptional stakeholder and relationship management skills
  • Driven to be a self-starter, with confidence in your interpersonal skills and the ability to make a positive impact
  • Significant volunteer or team management experience (minimum of 2 years)
  • Significant relationship management experience essential with proven quality outcomes (minimum of 2 years)
  • Significant leadership experience with resource, budget and people management to achieve quality outcomes (minimum of 2 years)
  • An ability to constructively hold difficult conversations in a clear and concise manner
  • Demonstrated capacity for strategic and operational analysis, planning and decision-making
  • Demonstrated capacity to successfully manage broad responsibilities and complex issues
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate meetings, conduct effective consultations with volunteers, community groups and organisations, government agencies, service providers and staff
  • An ability to deliver exceptional results, on time and within budget to meet identified program requirements
  • Strong strategic planning skills
  • An ability to communicate clearly and convincingly and influence outcomes across all management levels

Skills

  • Strong skills in the development and implementation of processes and procedures to support RSPCA NSW objectives and customer expectations
  • Ability to accept responsibilities and accountabilities and be focused on delivering outcomes to meet RSPCA NSW objectives
  • Project management skills and experience
  • High sensitivity to reputational risk
  • Conflict resolution, mediation and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and maintain set target levels as directed
  • Driven to be a self-starter, with confidence in your personal presentation, sales skills and the ability to make a positive impact
