About the role

As part of the Community Support and Safety Services team, you will be expected to:

  • Research, design, coordinate and evaluate innovative community safety and community connection projects in line with relevant strategies and plans
  • Identify and foster appropriate partnerships with key internal and external stakeholders that lead to sustainable relationships to enhance community safety and connection
  • Guide, support and assist community groups, organisations and individuals to build their capacity and resilience through the provision of training, resources, programs and services relating to community safety, crime prevention, community connection and wellbeing.

About you

You are an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual who understands the ethos of community capacity building in relation to the development and implementation of targeted community programs. You possess strong written and verbal communication skills which enables you to develop partnerships and communicate with people across a diverse range of needs and backgrounds.

You understand community safety and capacity building principles within a local government community development setting. You have the ability to conduct evidence based research to develop relevant programs to address community needs and emerging trends. You enjoy working as part of team, display initiative and are organised and time conscious with your work.

To be considered for this role, you must address the following selection criteria as part of your online application:

  1. Sound knowledge of Community Development and Community Capacity Building theory, principles and practice with demonstrated ability to develop, deliver and evaluate community safety projects/events
  2. Extensive knowledge and understanding of community safety, crime prevention and community connection principles
  3. Ability to develop and maintain effective, efficient and collaborative partnerships with key stakeholders
  4. Sound written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated experience in research and report writing
  5. Degree in Community Development, Social Science, Criminology or related field and/or relevant experience in Community Development

We are offering a gross salary of $81,808 per annum, and:

  • 11% superannuation plus the opportunity to co-contribute up to 5%
  • A variety of health and wellbeing programmes
