The River Nile School (RNS) is a specialist, independent, inclusive, senior-secondary school, delivering Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL) curriculum to young refugee and asylum seeker women, who have had disrupted schooling or are struggling to cope with mainstream school. It is a rapidly growing unique school with a student cohort of marginalised young refugee, asylum seeker and migrant women. The school receives significant funding due to disability, particularly social-emotional trauma, to support the many individualised learning interventions.

The EAL/VCAL Teacher we need is an innovative and creative educator, who is able to be effective in a professional team environment whilst striving to deliver a creative and innovative program with teaching strategies that promotes a vibrant, engaging and safe learning environment.

We will expect exemplary interpersonal and communication skills in strong values pertaining to personal qualities of objectivity, sensitivity and integrity. Qualifications to postgraduate Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), experience in an EAL setting, trauma-informed experience with Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) students with complex needs will be essential. Salary will be aligned with Victorian Government Schools Agreement 2017 commensurate with experience. Access to tax-effective salary packaging and training and development opportunities.
