Flourish Australia has a fantastic career opportunity for a Mental Health Clinician to join the HASI Plus Program overseeing our Tamworth and Newcastle HASI Plus sites!

The Housing and Accommodation Support Initiative (HASI) Plus is a transitional program transitioning people to a more independent life in the community. The position is closed-term full-time (ending 30 June 2023) working Monday to Friday. You will have the flexibility to be based at either our Newcastle or Tamworth office. Travel and work between the two locations will be required as the HASI Plus program has participants in both locations. Remuneration will be commensurate with the role.

About this Opportunity

As a Mental Health Clinician with Flourish Australia, you will work closely with the Hunter New England Local Health District Mental Health Clinician to plan and implement care and rehabilitation for people.

Reporting to the Manager, Accomodation, you will be directly responsible for the assessment and support of people successfully referred to the HASI Plus program.

The HASI Plus Clinician will develop positive working relationships with people who access our services, their family members, carers and other key supports. You will be involved in utilising clinical tools and therapies as part of support planning in conjunction with individuals and their support persons to work towards sustainable recovery.

The HASI Plus Clinician will design and facilitate proactive, person-directed interventions to enhance the individuals understanding of their mental health issues, promote their self-determination, choices and resilience, and develop opportunities for community integration and citizenship.

Selection Criteria

Essential:

  1. Possess specialist rehabilitation skills and tertiary qualifications as a Registered Nurse, Social Worker, Occupational Therapist or Psychologist with current unrestricted registration with the Australian Health Practitioner regulations Agency (AHPRA).
  2. Minimum 3 years experience in a similar role.
  3. Demonstrated engagement, collaboration and negotiation skills, with the capability to build and maintain positive working relationships.
  4. Demonstrated experience in leading the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of clinical supports.
  5. Demonstrated experience in planning and ensuring that all documentation requirements are finalised in a timely manner.
  6. Current Australian Driver’s Licence.

Desirable:

  1. A personal lived experience of a mental health issue.
  2. Demonstrated understanding of the challenges faced by people with complex mental health issues and how providing a recovery-oriented, trauma informed service is of benefit to people.
