About the position

The Way Back is a non-clinical support service providing psychosocial support to people experiencing a suicidal crisis or who have attempted suicide. Support is provided for up to three months and targets those at the highest risk through referrals following hospital presentations or through specialist mental health services. The Team Leader is responsible for overall operational management of The Way Back Support Service program, as well as clinical and operational supervision of Support Coordinators. This position will involve substantial travel throughout the West Moreton/Darling Downs region.

Requirements include

  • A Psychologist, Occupational Therapist or Mental Health Nurse with APRHA registration, or a Social Worker with eligibility for membership with the AASW
  • Ability to lead a multi-disciplinary team
  • Understanding of the key mental health issues and social wellbeing needs of people who attempt suicide or experience suicidal crisis
  • A strong sense of professional boundaries and integrity
  • Valid driver’s licence and access to a registered roadworthy and insured vehicle (minimum third-party property)
  • Undergo criminal history screening and obtain and maintain a positive notice and Yellow Card pursuant to the Disability Services Act 2006 (Qld)
