This position provides clinical governance and leadership to a team delivering support coordination (non-clinical practical support and connection). The Way Back Support Service has been developed by beyondblue and is delivered to people who have been admitted to hospital following a suicide attempt or suicide crisis.

This position manages a geographically dispersed workforce across sites in West Moreton and the Darling Downs. Travel is a requirement of this role.

Requirements include

  • Registered Psychologists under the Australia Health Practitioner Regulation Agency or Social Worker (with Mental Health Accreditation) registered under the Australian Association of Social Workers and at least 3 years practical counselling experience
  • A strong sense of professional boundaries and integrity
  • Valid driver’s licence and access to a registered roadworthy and insured vehicle (minimum third-party property)
  • Smart phone to be used for work purposes
  • Positive Notice Card, or ability to acquire

The successful applicant will have

Experience and Skills:

  • Proven experience working with people who present with suicidal behaviour and suicidal crisis/ideation, including working with families and communities
  • Demonstrated understanding of all clinical governance aspects of the service including human resource management, quality systems and risk management to ensure safe and effective service delivery
  • Demonstrated high level of resilience, emotional intelligence, interpersonal skills and an ability to develop effective working relations with colleagues, participants and professional networks
  • Proven experience in assessing people’s needs and risk, and ability to develop and implement safety and need based support plans in accordance with program requirements and RFQ practice model
  • Ability to engage with clients and external stakeholder to promote the service and achieve client and service outcomes
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a solution focussed manner within a diverse team and stakeholders
  • A strong ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise discretion, show sound judgement and operate within professional boundaries
