Program Support Officer - Telehealth

Royal Flying Doctor Service Victoria

The Organisation

Proudly serving Australians since 1928, the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) provides emergency aero medical and health services for people in rural and remote Australia. RFDS Victoria supports the work of the Flying Doctor throughout Australia and is also growing its services across the State.

In Victoria the RFDS works in partnership with a number of community health organisations across the State to improve the health and well-being of our rural and regional communities. We believe in creating opportunities so all Victorians have the choice to access essential primary health care services. Each year we come into contact with over 80,000 patients throughout Victoria, this includes primary health care and transport by air or on the road.

The Role

Part time (.8FTE), 55-60k base rate (pro-rata), max-term contract for 6 months with the possibility of extension for the right person.

Based at our Richmond Head Office (although working from home initially under current restrictions) and working within our Primary Health Care – eHealth Services team, the Program Support Officer will provide administration and tech support for the Flying Doctor Telehealth service in Victoria.

The Flying Doctor’s Telehealth platform improves access to healthcare for rural Victorians by connecting patients with specialist services in their community. Using the platform, partnered health services are able to book and support patients attending appointments, which are held via video-conferencing, reducing the burden of needing to travel to access medical appointments. For more information please visit our website www.flyingdoctortelehealth.org.au.

The Program Support Officer - Telehealth will take a detailed approach to managing appointment bookings and monitoring live appointments to ensure successful connectivity, including providing tech support via video, phone and email to assist with troubleshooting. In an administration capacity, the role will handle the Medicare billing and tracking process, maintain patient files, track service feedback and other ad hoc duties as required.
