About The Role

Full-time maximum term until 30/06/2022 with the possibility of extension, 85-95K base salary (dependent on qualifications and experience) plus super and salary sacrificing.

Flying Doctor Wellbeing are now accepting applications from suitably qualified Mental Health Clinicians to deliver essential wellbeing services to rural communities in Western Victoria. With a negotiable work location (WFH options will be considered), the successful candidate will be ideally located within the Wimmera region and will be flexible to deliver regular outreach services to several rural/ isolated communities in the area.

This diverse role will involve regular travel providing counselling/mental health consultation to clients via a blend of face-to-face and telehealth and will work within a passionate and supportive multi-disciplinary team of clinicians, with opportunities for professional development and regular clinical supervision available. A car, mobile phone and laptop will be provided for the successful applicant.

Please note - this role will require travel around the Wimmera region and as such, a driver’s licence will be essential. RFDS does not conduct home visits so all outreach will be conducted within a community health setting.

About you

  • An experienced clinician, you are comfortable with regular travel and working autonomously to provide outreach services.
  • You are familiar with the unique challenges of working with rural and remote communities and can demonstrate experience working with trauma presentations and high prevalence disorders (including substance use problems).
  • You have a passion for helping others and understand the mission of the Flying Doctors, and as such can demonstrate a high degree of presentation and professionalism in your daily dealings with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Drawing on your experience and understanding of rural communities, you understand the importance of community engagement, development and education in wellbeing space and have the natural interpersonal skills required to build strong stakeholder relationships.
  • As a values driven individual, you pride yourself on your ability to positively contribute to a supportive team culture and thrive on working within passionate and professional multidisciplinary group.

Key Selection Criteria

  • Tertiary qualification which includes one or more of the following:
  • Social Work
  • Psychology
  • Mental Health Nursing
  • Occupational Therapy (Mental Health)

Please note all candidates must be fully registered, and meet the required qualifications and standards/accreditations for their field of practice to provide psychological therapies (including continuing professional development requirements).

  • Demonstrated understanding of mental health and wellbeing issues in rural settings.
  • Experience working across diverse teams and locations, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Experience in working with trauma presentations, as well as high prevalence disorders (including substance use problems).
