An exciting opportunity exists to join our Alice Springs office in the role of Counsellor, Disability Royal Commission Support Services (DRCSS) in a full-time capacity through to June 2022.
The position is to provide high-quality trauma-informed counselling and casework for those affected by, or engaged with, the Royal Commission into Violence, Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation of People with Disability (referred to as the Disability Royal Commission). This includes, but is not limited to people with disabilities, their families, and paid or unpaid carers. Priority will be given to safety and a service that empowers and enhances their personal agency.
The role therefore requires well developed clinical practice skills and a good understanding of issues people with a disability and their families may face. Outreach, community and stakeholder engagement will also form part of this role. All activities may be provided face-to-face or via telecommunication. The role requires initiative and flexibility.

In the performance of this role, you are required to comply with the Safeguarding Children and Young People Practice and Behaviour Guidelines and to participate in cultural fitness activities. Candidates must be willing to undergo a National Criminal History Check and have the ability to obtain a Working With Children Clearance (Ochre Card).
