About the Opportunity

This is a caring role like few others.

It’s an opportunity for the Support Workers to share home live in arrangements, in order to provide family style support for two intellectually disabled adults, a sister and a brother.

Both adults are polite, thoughtful and sociable, have part time work and both receive support for community engagements.

You will complement the established support team and provide assistance with:

• Support with community engagement including attending activities as required
• Developing skills with technology and other learning strategies
• Provide transport to appointments and activities as required
• Cleaning, washing, cooking, grocery shopping and general housekeeping

The newly built property is 15 minutes from the city and provides separate accommodation for the Live In Support Worker/s.

This may be an opportunity for an individual or a couple.

About You

You are a capable and caring person who is willing and available to enter into a live-in mutually beneficial arrangement, either by yourself or with a partner who is also suitable to be part of the support team. You are interested in providing support on an ongoing basis and preferably have previous experience supporting adults living with an intellectual disability. You are someone who is willing to commit on an ongoing basis.

Previous experience in supporting adults living with intellectual disability is definitely an advantage but the willingness to learn, empathy, resilience and a genuine desire to be part of this team is much more important.

The following is essential:

• DHS clearances for working with people with disabilities and working with vulnerable persons
• Recent police check
• Full, unrestricted SA drivers licence
• Current First Aid and CPR certificate

It would be great if you had:

• Previous experience in a caring role
• Certificate III in Individual Support
• Access to a roadworthy vehicle with current 3rd party insurance
