About RedR Australia

RedR Australia’s mission is to build resilience and provide humanitarian relief – before during and after crises and conflict. RedR Australia recruits, trains and deploys experts worldwide. We are the only Standby Partner in the southern hemisphere and are internationally recognised as a provider of quality humanitarian training courses and packages.

The Role

Reporting to the Training Manager, the Humanitarian Training role is focused on the design and development of participatory humanitarian training packages. The successful candidate will be a curriculum design specialist who can both develop and deliver high quality training products to our roster applicants, members and other stakeholders. They will also support the delivery of RedR Australia’s core course offerings including: Hostile Environment Awareness Training (HEAT); Essentials of Humanitarian Practice (EHP); Humanitarian Logistics in Emergencies (HLE); Water, Sanitation and Hygiene in Emergencies (WASH); and, Child Protection in Humanitarian Action (CPHA).

Our Training team is a small, busy group of training specialists, who work with technical experts to deliver a broad range of humanitarian training packages that strengthen the sectors’ ability to respond in times of crisis.

Working with a large pool of Associate Trainers and volunteers, this role will help:

  • Prepare selected people for RedR Australia’s Emergency Standby Register of personnel through the delivery of RedR’s core courses;
  • Work with the UN, Governments and NGOs on the design and delivery of sector specific training;
  • Design and deliver fee-for-service, tailored humanitarian training programs to domestic and international organisations;
  • Contribute to the overall work of RedR Australia in efforts to fulfil the humanitarian imperative.

The Senior Humanitarian Trainer will work to strengthen RedR’s core course offerings to ensure they reflect the ever-changing nature of the sector and the latest in adult learning theory. The trainer will also work with prospective training clients through the proposal, design, delivery and evaluation of tailored training offerings.

The role will work closely with all other staff to ensure RedR Australia continues to be a leader in international humanitarian response, through its selection, training and deployment of technical specialists.

We strongly encourage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders and people with a disability to apply.

RedR Australia is an equal opportunity employer and are committed to gender equality when responding to humanitarian needs. We recognise there is an under-representation of women working in humanitarian training roles, as such we would encourage applications from women.
