Why does this role matter?

Our team of organised and friendly volunteers is vital to the fundraising success of the Redkite corporate quiz and is a great opportunity to get stuck into some hands-on teamwork. In 2019, this event raised over $315,000 to support families facing their child’s cancer diagnosis.

This money is used to provide essential support to children with cancer and their families. We’re here throughout the whole cancer journey, from the moment of diagnosis until after treatment finishes. Our support includes financial assistance to cover essential costs, emotional and mental health support, and support through grief and loss.

What are the key details?

Set Up Volunteers are needed from 12pm until 4pm. We are looking for 12 volunteers to deliver event set up, and so we are happy to accommodate teams of volunteers as well as individuals. Everyone will be fully briefed so they feel confident in their role and have the support of a volunteer team leader at the event. Snacks will be provided!

• display our auction prizes
• compile programs
• lay out table collateral
• put up sponsor banners
• set up fundraising resources for our evening volunteers

Event Volunteers are needed from 4.30pm until 11.30pm. We are looking for up to 45 volunteers to fulfil this vital role, and so we are happy to accommodate teams of volunteers as well as individuals. Everyone will be fully briefed so they feel confident in their role and have the support of a volunteer team leader at the event. An evening meal and comprehensive briefing will be provided.

• Welcome guests on arrival and help them to locate their tables
• Collect completed quiz sheets from tables
• Mark and score each table’s quiz sheet
• Distribute prizes to winners
• Pack up Redkite resources after the event

What are we looking for in our volunteers?

• Available to volunteer for the full volunteer shift on Thursday 15 September from EITHER 12pm - 4pm OR 4.30pm – 11.30pm
• Able to take direction from a team leader and work well in a team
• Confident, friendly and personable
• Fluent English speakers
• Volunteers must be 18 or over
• Ability to safely lift and carry boxes of event resources
• Volunteers for Marking must be comfortable working with numbers (the scoring is straightforward, but will involve some mental arithmetic)
