The Redcliffe Area Youth Space (RAYS) is seeking a passionate and committed mental health professional (Registered Psychologist, Mental Health Social Worker, Mental Health Nurse, Occupational Therapist). We are hoping to meet innovative professionals from a variety of relevant disciplines to join a team delivering clinical mental health services for young people aged 12-25. Applicants must demonstrate a willingness to proactively engage disengaged young people with a severe mental illness, or young people who may be at risk of a severe mental illness. This role will require some work out of business hours, home visits and a strong focus and understanding of psychosocial support and community participation outcomes. This program is a two-worker model, and actively partners clinicians with functional recovery workers to ensure a holistic service.

About the role

This position is to deliver an outreach based, clinical mental health program for young people aged 12 -25 years. The position will work closely with a number of Functional Recovery Youth Worker roles. The program design prioritises youth engagement and relationship building as the means of achieving clinical outcomes; as such, a flexible approach to service delivery will be expected with workers typically undertaking home visits and/or sessions in other places in the community such as the courthouse, schools, cafes or parks. While it is clinical in nature, it will have a strong focus on social inclusion/community participation outcomes to maintain recovery and prevent relapse. Clinical workers will be expected to actively participate in care coordination meetings, and in regular multidisciplinary team case reviews. Some group work will also be required.

The position is available for the duration of the funding. Pay scale $79,000 - $89,000 + super + salary packaging to the value of $15,900 pa.

Requirements of the Role

  • Relevant four-year degree with two years of mental health specific experience, or three-year degree with three years of relevant mental health experience (such as psychology, social work - mental health accredited, mental health nursing, occupational therapy, etc.)
  • Knowledge of and experience in trauma-informed care, stepped care, recovery-oriented practice and a range of therapies
  • Experience in working with young people and a commitment to a relational model of care
  • Experience working in a multidisciplinary team
  • Ability to work flexibly
  • Ability to work outside of business hours on occasions
