A newly created role for a talented and driven Communications Manager to join Gastroenterological Society of Australia (GESA).

The Gastroenterological Society of Australia (GESA) sets, promotes and continuously improves the standards of practice, training and research in gastroenterology and hepatology in Australia. GESA is the chief advocacy group for the healthcare professionals and scientists working in this field. GESA’s ultimate goal is optimal gastrointestinal and liver health for all. GESA promotes optimal health through prevention, control, and treatment of gastrointestinal and liver disease in humans by working collaboratively to ensure that their clinical and research practices are world class and making decisions that are guided by excellence, equity, leadership, and fellowship.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and working from the organisation's head office, located in the Melbourne CBD the Communications and Projects Manager is responsible for the planning, coordination and delivery of GESA’s communications strategy across all functional areas of the organisation. This includes engaging and working closely and collaboratively with all stakeholder groups to deliver high-quality communications to achieve the Society’s strategic objectives.

Key responsibilities include

  • Develop, deliver and evaluate a communications strategy that supports GESA’s strategic priorities
  • Manage the Society’s communications including channels, newsletters, EDMs, website and social media
  • Research and write engaging content for all communications ensuring accurate and timely delivery
  • Manage communication campaigns to promote GESA activities e.g., annual scientific meeting, educational events and programs in collaboration with relevant stakeholders and partners
  • Identify new and effective digital engagement strategies and platforms to deliver high-quality content
  • Develop and implement communications policies for the society
  • Manage and oversee the timely delivery of projects as required

To meet the requirements of this role you must have

  • 10+ years’ communications experience in a similar senior role (health or science sector essential)
  • Tertiary qualification in comms, marketing, PR, journalism or a related discipline
  • Proven experience in strategy and campaign development, delivery and evaluation
  • Exceptional interpersonal, verbal and written (grammar, spelling, punctuation) skills
  • Advanced-level proficiency in MS Office Suite, CMS, CRM systems
  • Highly developed organisational and admin skills with the ability to manage multiple projects
  • Meticulous attention to detail with the ability to deliver high-quality outputs free from errors
