We're looking for a self-directed, team-player with a track record of creating strong policy to contribute to national consultations and experience in government relations to increase engagement and funding.

AIM:

This role contributes to Asthma Australia implementing a strategic approach to policy activity by focused research, analysis and policy development on selected issues including national health policy reforms and pharmaceutical and therapeutic goods regulation. You will contribute to policy direction and develop advocacy strategies to contribute to social change.

You will also identify strategies for maintaining or growing existing government funding and attracting new sources of government funding, leading this work in collaboration with the Programs team.

MAIN DUTIES:

  • Policy Development in conjunction with the team and informed strongly by consumers
  • Submissions across two key areas – pharmaceutical regulation and health reform policy; collaborating with internal subject matter experts
  • Advocacy - draw on internal knowledge to lead government funding advocacy work
  • Strategy across advocacy and strategic relationship management

WHO ARE YOU?

You are an organised problem solver who uses solid judgement to influence and negotiate. You enjoy a fast moving environment, you are quick to recognise road blocks and have systems in place to ensure your workload capabilities are realistic.

Required Experience:

  • Formal qualifications in health policy, social policy, public policy, health promotion or public health
  • Experience working in health or social policy or planning at either not-for-profit or government level
  • A strong track record in attracting and maintaining government funding
  • Government relations experience and an understanding of government processes
  • A solid understanding of political processes at federal, state and territory levels
