  • Location: Canberra or Sydney
  • Part-time with flexible hours – approximately 4 days per week
  • Fixed-term contract to 30 June 2023 (with potential for a 3-year extension depending on funding)
  • Salary range $95,000 – $115,000 (full-time equivalent, prorated for part-time hours) + Super. Starting salary will depend on experience and qualifications

The opportunity

As the Human Resources Manager you will have significant autonomy but work closely with the Senior Executive Team and report to the COO. You will have significant input to or responsibility for:

  • Cultural and professional learning and development
  • Performance management processes
  • Recruitment and on-boarding
  • Review and updating HR policies and procedures
  • WHS, staff welfare and organisational culture
  • Management and review of remuneration and benefits
  • HR elements of our workplace Reconciliation Action Plan

Reconciliation Australia is a highly flexible workplace. This role is flexible in terms of hours worked (within core-hours) and is open to partly remote work.

Skills and Experience

You will have the necessary skills and experience to take on the full range of HR responsibilities for a small not-for-profit organisation with an important national mandate. You will also:

  • Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of all relevant legislation, compliance and best practice methodologies across the broad range of HR, learning and development and WHS issues
  • Be a self-motivated team player with the ability to manage your agenda and work independently, be flexible and able to respond quickly to urgent issues as required
  • Have experience working closely with the Senior Executive Team on relevant issues

Previous experience developing and implementing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander recruitment and retention policies will be highly regarded.
