The Green Triangle Forest Industries Hub (GTFIH) was created by industry leaders as a strategic alliance between nine companies from the forest industry supply chains in the Green Triangle reflecting the long-standing commitment to working collectively for the future of the Green Triangle.
Today, GTFIH brings together growers, processors, contractors, industry bodies and regional partners to support the growth, resilience and success of forestry industries in the Green Triangle. The region is nationally significant, accounting for 17% of Australia's plantation estate and underpinning softwood housing supply, hardwood export trade and regional manufacturing. The Hub's role is to help position the Green Triangle as Australia's timber and fibre capital - sustainably grown, locally processed and nationally vital.
GTFIH has entered a new phase with a refreshed Strategic Plan. The focus is practical and regionally important: growing the estate; building a safe, innovative and productive workforce; and strengthening community relationships. This work is being delivered through projects funded by government, industry and members.
The Executive General Manager will lead the Hub at a pivotal time for the region, with significant investment in timber processing, advanced manufacturing, fibre recovery and local value capture. The EGM will also be central to demonstrating the importance of the Green Triangle to governments, communities and investors, while working closely with South Australian Forest Products Association (SAFPA), Victorian Forest Products Association (VFPA), members and regional partners.
As the current Executive General Manager is retiring, an accomplished executive is sought to continue the momentum achieved to date and to lead the next stage of the Hub's development. The position is based at the new Forestry Centre of Excellence in Mount Gambier, in South Australia's Limestone Coast region, and reports to the Chair of the GTFIH Board.
To be successful in this dynamic role, you will be a highly credible and experienced executive with a proven record of leading strategy, projects and stakeholder outcomes in a member-led organisation, industry association, regional development body or similarly complex environment. You will understand how to balance member priorities, funder expectations, and community interests while keeping a clear focus on delivery.
You will be recognised for your ability to influence, engage and work constructively with diverse stakeholders, including industry leaders, government, media, education providers, research partners and regional communities. Your judgement, diplomacy and communication skills will enable you to navigate competing views, build trust and maintain momentum on strategically important work.
Experience in forestry, natural resources, agriculture, manufacturing, regional development, infrastructure, stakeholder engagement or a related sector would be highly regarded.
Relevant tertiary qualifications (or demonstrated prior learnings) are expected, with postgraduate study or executive development in strategy, governance, communication, public policy, business or leadership considered advantageous.
