Redress Case Manager - Flexible location

The Redress Support Service provides support for people who have experienced institutional child sexual abuse and who are considering making an application for the National Redress Scheme.

There is a vacancy for a position of Redress Case Manager, based at either West Leederville, or Kalgoorlie with regular regional travel.

The role

Redress Case Manager (25, 30 or 37.5hrs week).

RAWA have been providing outreach Redress Support Service to the Goldfields Region for some time, we are currently recruiting for additional staff due to ongoing strong demand for services from the region. The Redress Case Manager is responsible for supporting survivors of child sexual abuse who reside in the Kalgoorlie/Goldfields region, and who are considering applying to the National Redress Scheme.

Either as an outreach model (from Leederville), or locally based (Kalgoorlie) the Case Manager provides client focused counselling and emotional support in a culturally appropriate, trauma informed context, as well as providing accurate information about the scheme and assisting with completing Redress Applications. The team also works collaboratively with other service providers within a community context.


  • Tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling or Social Sciences -with knowledge of the impact of, and considerations for working with those who have experienced Childhood Sexual Abuse
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage over the telephone for extended periods.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain cultural security with an awareness and appreciation of Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander communities and culture, and an understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal people in Australia.
  • Commitment to supporting disadvantaged community members, particularly male adults who as children have experienced institutional care.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and ability to effectively engage with and to provide support services to people who have experienced complex trauma, supporting clients in crisis, and to interact with people who may be emotional, and/or who present with challenging behaviour.
  • Sound practice in maintaining safety, and the ability to work effectively, outside of the office environment including home visits, a willingness to work in offsite locations including outreach to rural/remote locations throughout the Goldfields Region.
  • Possession of a current National Police Certificate and Working with Children Check or willingness to obtain both.
  • A current West Australian driver’s licence. Ability to travel to regional/remote areas if required. 


  • Knowledge and understanding of a diverse range of mental health issues.
  • Some flexibility to work alternate hours and/or days as required to meet clients’ needs.
  • Knowledge of the history and context of the issues faced by Stolen Generations, Care Leavers and Forgotten Australians.
