Relationships Australia WA is a non-government provider of professional relationship support services to the West Australian Community.

The Redress Support Service provides support for people who have experienced institutional child sexual abuse and who are considering making an application for the National Redress Scheme.

There is a vacancy for a contract position of Redress Case Manager, based at West Leederville, with regional travel. 

The role – Redress Case Manager (25,30 or 37.5hrs wk).

The Redress Case Manager is responsible for supporting survivors of child sexual abuse who are considering applying to the National Redress Scheme. The case manager provides client focused counselling and emotional support in a trauma informed context as well as to provide accurate information about the scheme and to assist completing Redress Applications. The team also works collaboratively with other service providers within a community context.

Essential

  • Tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling or Social Sciences -with knowledge of the impact of, and considerations for working with those who have experienced Childhood Sexual Abuse
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with ability to effectively engage over the telephone for extended periods.
  • Commitment to supporting disadvantaged community members, particularly male adults who as children have experienced institutional care.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and ability to effectively engage and to provide support services to people who have experienced complex trauma, supporting clients in crisis, and to interact with people who may be emotional, and/or who present with challenging behaviour.
  • Sound practice in maintaining safety, and the ability to work effectively, outside of the office environment including home visits, willingness to work in offsite locations including outreach to rural/remote locations throughout WA.
  • Possession of a current West Australian National Police Certificate and Working with Children Check or willingness to obtain both.
  • A current West Australian driver’s licence. Ability to travel to regional/remote areas if required (a contract without travel may be considered).

Desirable

  • Knowledge and understanding of a diverse range of mental health issues.
  • Some flexibility to work alternate hours and/or days as required to meet clients’ needs.
  • Knowledge of the history and context of the issues faced by Care Leavers and Forgotten Australians.
