Branch Manager - South Hedland

We are seeking a dynamic, positive and experienced person for a Branch Manager role in our South Hedland Branch. It is a dual Management/Clinical role within our Family and Relationship Counselling program and Acacia Support Service.

The Management component of the role will involve line management of a small number of staff, liaising, networking and building connections with other organisations and stakeholders. The Manager will also be responsible for effectively overseeing the operations of the South Hedland Branch and the oversight of policies and best practice to ensure the continued delivery of high quality services.

The clinical role will focus on providing counselling to couples, individuals (adults and children) and family groups. The Acacia support service component of the clinical role will involve taking part in providing and/or coordinating crisis intervention and counselling to clients, 13 years and over, who have been affected by sexual assault or sexual abuse, recent and historical. Another component of the role may involve provision of training and awareness raising programs around sexual assault and abuse, and protective behaviours.

Essential criteria:

  • Tertiary degree in Psychology, Counselling, Social Work or other relevant degree
  • Some post qualification experience in a similar positions
  • Management experience, knowledge and skills, incorporating planning, site management, budgets, human resource management
  • Skills in MS Office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook and Publisher and some awareness of Database operation
  • Strong administration skills, including reporting, record keeping, statistical analysis and co-ordination of office administration procedures as required
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of current theory and practice in Couple & Family Counselling, working with Children and Families and Domestic Violence
  • Experience working with people who have been affected by sexual assault and sexual abuse
  • Evidence of success as a clinical professional, including record of attendance, and adherence to clinical standards of practice in Australia
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a professional, respectful, positive and inclusive way with all other team/staff members
  • Proven experience in working with a wide variety of people from diverse backgrounds, including cultural sensitivity and cross-culture communication
  • Proven ability to adhere to clinical and ethical work standards including a demonstrated ability to maintain appropriate professional boundaries and professional confidentiality within the workplace and community at all times, and client confidentiality at all times
  • Self-development skills, including analysis of development needs, self-reflection and self-awareness, and commitment towards professional development
  • Experience in networking and liaising with other health and welfare providers to discuss service cooperation, coordination and innovative partnerships


  • Fluency in a second language, both verbal and written
  • Previous management experience in a non-profit organisation

Our staff are supported through regular professional supervision and generous ongoing professional development.

The position is:

  • Permanent (following 6 month probationary period)
  • Part time – 4 – 5 days per week
  • Salary to be negotiated – generous salary packaging available after probation.
