RA Tas is committed to improving the lives of Tasmanians through its range of community-based programs. We are seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to join our Suicide Prevention Team.

As a Community Engagement Officer, you will play a vital role in in leveraging your established relationships with local communities to develop and implement effective suicide prevention strategies. You will work closely with local networks and stakeholders to facilitate the creation of Community Action Plans (CAPs) and ensure their ongoing success.

This is a fixed term position that will end on June 30, 2025. We are looking for someone to work full-time, but we are open to discussing flexible arrangements with the right candidate.  The location of this role can be either Launceston or Hobart based.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Outreach and engagement with local communities to introduce the CAP program
  • Supporting communities in the readiness building process for CAP completion
  • Facilitating CAP development from initial stages through to endorsement
  • Collaborating with the Suicide Prevention team to host annual events
  • Representing RA Tas at meetings and events
  • Ensuring administrative and reporting requirements are met

Do you fit the Bill:

  • Existing connections with a range of local communities
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience in community engagement or outreach
  • Understanding of suicide prevention initiations specifically Community Action Plans
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Passion for suicide prevention and mental health
  • Knowledge of the Tasmanian community landscape (preferred)

  • Salary starting from $ 87,017.69 to 94,867.70 + Super / *Pro-rata
