About the Role

We are currently seeking applications for the Part-time role (22.5 hours per week) position of Redress Support Service Counsellor located at our Townsville venue.

The purpose of these roles is to provide a high standard of counselling and case management interventions to people who are survivors of institutionalised child sexual abuse.

The key responsibilities of this position include:

• Conducting thorough client assessment and intake processes, including risk and needs assessment, to provide relevant information and determine appropriate interventions or referral pathways based on client presentation and need
• Delivering appropriate trauma-based counselling and/or crisis interventions which are linked to lodgement of an application to the National Redress Scheme
• Applying theoretical knowledge of trauma and/or crisis interventions to the clients, including the impact of the trauma, and coping strategies accessed by the client, as part of the counselling process

About You

To be successful in this position, you will have demonstrated experience in managing complex cases and crisis and trauma counselling in a variety of settings including individuals, couples, children and families. In addition, you will have a relevant undergraduate qualification in social or behavioural science. Work days/hours will be negotiated with the successful applicant, however please note that the position holder may be required to work an evening shift (e.g. 11am to 7pm) up to once a week, with some flexibility needed in order to meet business requirements.
