About the Role

We are currently seeking applications for the Part-time role (30 hours per week) of DFV Men’s Group Counsellor for our Longreach venue. For the successful applicant, there may be the flexibility to also work from our Rockhampton venue or to conduct remote delivery.

The purpose of this position is to provide counselling and therapeutic group work to men who perpetrate domestic and family violence and develop and deliver community development strategies aimed at increasing awareness about the effects of domestic violence.

The key responsibilities of this position include:

  • Conduct client assessment and intake of client needs to make client appointments, provide relevant information and make appropriate referrals, and link to treatment plan
  • Provide crisis intervention and individual counselling to group participants as required
  • Role model appropriate and respectful communication
  • Participate in the program recruitment, which includes assessment for suitability, contracting and case management

About You

To be successful in this position, you will have appropriate undergraduate tertiary qualifications in the social or behavioural sciences coupled with demonstrated skills and experience in the facilitation of groups. You will have experience, and theoretical knowledge of domestic and family violence, in a variety of settings, for example individuals, couples, children, young people, families and groups and experience in managing caseloads and effective time management.

The salary will be negotiated depending upon qualifications and experience, plus superannuation and generous salary packaging options where eligible which will significantly increase the value of take-home pay.
