We are seeking a Manager, International Medical Graduates (IMGs) to join our Specialty Training Unit, reporting to the Head, Education Services and Resources.

what your day to day will look like

The Manager, International Medical Graduates (IMGs) is responsible for managing the strategy, governance and operations related to the assessments of International Medical Graduates (IMGs) – ensuring a best-practice approach and compliance with the requirements of the Medical Board of Australia (MBA), the Australian Medical Council (AMC) and Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ).

In addition, the role also has the responsibility to manage and coordinate with relevant stakeholders in the IMG space and progress key regulatory policies that may arise. At present, these include, but are not limited to:

  • Proposed expedited pathway for IMGs in Australia and New Zealand
  • Recommendations for the Kruk Report – Final Report of the independent Review of Overseas Health Practitioner Regulatory Settings
  • RANZCRs IMG policy and any relevant updates.
  • This position is focused on quality assurance regarding records, data and stakeholder management and has a strong regulatory component.
  • The role helps to meet the strategic goals of the Unit and wider organisation and ensures that all College staff are actively engaged in these areas of work.
  • This role contributes to the College AMC accreditation processes, addressing standards and any conditions relating to the management of the College’s IMG policy and processes.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Proven ability to transform strategic objectives into operational plans.
  • Track record in operational management including managing staff, planning, financial management, reporting and risk management.
  • Demonstrated capacity to set and manage priorities in a high activity environment and be responsive to a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience in program development and management; process optimisation and active resource management.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office application skills.
  • Experience working in a not-for-profit organisation and/or healthcare industry (desirable).
  • Demonstrated experience in Educational Development / Quality Assurance / Policy / Standards / Report writing (desirable).
  • Experience facilitating technical information from multiple sources and translating into pragmatic, member focused strategies (desirable).
  • Experience working with committees and/or member-based organisations (desirable).
  • Understanding of the principles influencing healthcare integration, coordination, and person-centred care (desirable).
