The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (the College) is the peak body for advancing patient care and clinical excellence in clinical radiology and radiation oncology. The College is responsible for driving appropriate, high quality and safe use of essential medical services through training, assessment and accreditation of clinical radiologists and radiation oncologists, maintenance of quality and standards; and strategies to ensure the workforce is enough to support population need in Australian and New Zealand.

The Head of Policy and Advocacy is an integral member of our senior leadership team of six and is responsible for developing and driving implementation of the College’s programs across the Faculties of Clinical Radiology and Radiation Oncology. This role holds a critical responsibility in advocating the College’s strategic image and key policy priorities through strong relationships and external liaison with government, relevant industry organisations as well as close work with the College’s clinical leaders.

Reporting directly to the CEO of the College, you will lead a highly skilled team of thirteen staff with expertise in policy, governance, media, data analysis, health funding and regulation. To succeed in this role, you will be a forward-thinking leader, who values building and maintaining strong relationships across both internal and external stakeholders and partners. You are an outcome-focused champion of strategic policy development, who thrives in a fast-paced and high stakes environment. You will value, and seek to promote, the critical role that our medical specialists have in the community and have an aptitude to understand complex concepts and navigate high stakes situations.

This role will suit a leader who is keen to have a collaborative work environment where they can contribute to the overall direction of the organisation. Attributes that will make you stand out are drive, humour and an inquisitive mind. You will have a proven track record of delivering policy and leadership in a consensus-building environment, have solid experience working within highly regulated fields with complex government funding, as well as possessing exceptional stakeholder management capabilities coupled with a strong desire to drive strategy.

With a sophisticated work from home IT infrastructure in place to support staff during COVID-19 and an office in Sydney CBD, the College is a friendly, professional and positive working environment that fosters growth and development, as well as an excellent work life balance This role will require regular travel when this is possible again, particularly to Canberra, Wellington and Melbourne.
