The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP), the principal organisation representing the medical specialty of psychiatry in Australia and New Zealand, is now seeking to appoint an experienced Fundraising Coordinator to help grow our charity, the RANZCP Foundation.

The RANZCP Foundation supports and encourages psychiatrists to engage in clinical work, research, and other initiatives to improve the mental health and wellbeing of communities.

With experience in fundraising and helping charities to expand their capacity, reach and impact, you will be responsible for driving a series of fundraising activities and programs to raise funds for the RANZCP Foundation and ensure the sustainable growth of its grants, projects, and awards programs. Working across the RANZCP, you will be responsible for implementing aspects of the Foundation’s fundraising strategy through designing, coordinating, and delivering both internal (RANZCP member) and external (public) fundraising activities.

With your experience and skills in fundraising and donor engagement, your responsibilities will include:

  • Driving a program of regular fundraising activities and campaigns throughout the year to generate funds and raise awareness of the Foundation’s work.
  • Developing and implementing tailored strategies and campaigns designed to acquire new donors, as well as maintaining, retaining, and fostering long-term relationships with existing donors and supporters.
  • Identifying new external funding opportunities, and preparing submissions, proposals, and grant applications.
  • Preparing and executing a range of marketing and communications activities, including email campaigns, articles profiling the work of Foundation grant recipients, direct mail, public relations, social media, and the Foundation’s annual review.
  • Implementing donor relations and follow-up care activities and processes, including preparing regular and timely updates across a variety of digital and print communication mediums.
  • Coordinating the Foundation’s annual grant application round processes, including convening selection panels, distributing grants to recipients, as well as completion and reporting activities.

The successful candidate will best demonstrate the following key selection criteria:

  • Previous experience in a fundraising and/or grant writing role, together with digital communications and marketing activity experience including developing marketing communications content, annual and regular giving campaigns across a range of channels, both online and in print.
  • Demonstrated work experience in the fundraising industry and environment, with particular reference to identifying and applying for external grant opportunities, such as philanthropic trusts and/or foundations.
  • Knowledge of the principles and methodologies of fundraising activity, including the legal and regulatory requirements to conduct fundraising activities.
  • Experience in coordinating, cultivating, and developing relations across a range of fundraisers, corporate supporters, and prospects, as well as servicing donor/sponsor commitments.
  • Empathy for the Foundation’s cause and vision, and the ability to work with supporters of a variety of backgrounds – from Committee members, corporate supporters, major donors, and RANZCP members who donate to the Foundation.
  • An understanding of third-party fundraising and/or donations platforms combined with proven ability to understand database segmentation and reporting.
  • An understanding of charitable financial reporting to stakeholders, as well as management, distribution, and supervision of the use of donated funds.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to interpret and present ideas to diverse audiences.
  • Experience working with and supporting volunteer member committees and/or volunteer groups to achieve long-term strategic outcomes or goals.
  • Demonstrated autonomous project coordination skills in planning, task and activity monitoring, and delivery against defined tasks objectives, methods, and outcomes.
