RANZCO is the medical college for ophthalmologists in Australia and New Zealand. Our vision is excellence and equity in eye care. This role is an important part of our strategy to deliver ICT Service Management, Security and Systems to the organisation in liaison with external providers, and has accountability for security controls through those vendors.

RANZCO has a small staff complement that “punches well above its weight” and has a three-year Strategic Plan 2021-2023, which aims to build on the College’s successes to date while clearly articulating our vision, mission and strategic priorities.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced, results-focused, problem solving professional to translate and realise business strategies and objectives into tangible IT initiatives, overseeing the execution of those initiatives, and delivering a stable, secure IT service.

As the Senior Manager – ICT Services you will be responsible to:

  • Develop high quality IT capabilities and facilitate advice on technology strategy.
  • Manage the service delivery of our vendors and partners to relevant SLAs.
  • Build a cross-functional team that is skilled in various aspects of the RANZCO’s business ensuring business risk is managed at all times without ‘single point’ sensitivity.
  • Ensure daily monitoring and management of risks and cyber security threats are reported via vendors and escalated as required.
  • Ensure the development, execution and ongoing measurement of Information Security assets, risks, policies and controls in meeting RANZCO’s privacy and security requirements.
  • Establish and maintain policies to govern data classification, information security, user access management and disaster recovery
  • Provide IT and security training support and mentoring
  • Oversee the planning and maintenance of production systems upgrades, changes, development, enhancements in order to support growth and provide efficiencies, as well as coordinate the development, enhancement, evaluation, testing and implementation of new software and hardware releases for technical applications and interfaces ensuring change management processes are adopted, ultimately ensuring systems and processes are in place and updated to meet the business needs.
  • Ensure RANZCO is provided with technical assurance as to the ongoing quality, integrity and continuity of the RANZCO’s technical applications, and co-ordinate and administer ongoing application development, fault rectification and change management processes under a regime of Continuous Improvement.
  • Hands-on management and ensuring timely responses to Helpdesk support tickets raised by members and staff.
  • Take a lead role in bringing external knowledge, experience and best practice into RANZCO building a continuous improvement culture.

This role is located in Surry Hills, Sydney, located conveniently opposite Central Station. However, currently staff are mostly working remotely from home (supplied with suitable technology) and will do so for the foreseeable future. There will be the need to attend the office on occasion and it is envisaged that long-term there will be a hybrid office/home working arrangement.
