About the position

The Team Leader Group Work is a rewarding, varied and challenging role. It works across 2 programs Building Stronger Families and Children and Parenting Support program. This is a full time contract role until June 2022.

It requires someone who has a strong combination of clinical expertise, supervision and leadership, group facilitation skills and program management capability.

This role has 3 aspects across the two programs:

1) Project Coordination

  • Ensure quality service delivery
  • Cross agency collaboration with SSI and Relationships Australia Project team in implementing the BSF project, including supervision of bilingual educators, referrals into the groups and Reference Group participation
  • Ensure the Relationship Education Program remains relevant and well connected with other services within and outside of the organisation
  • Maintain program records and data to ensure funding body reporting requirements are met

2) Group Work Facilitation:

  • Screen clients to ensure suitability and safety
  • Facilitate group work that effectively incorporates both children's and parent's needs.

3) Supervision & Team Leadership:

  • Provide effective case consultation and supervision, including triage of complex cases and critical incident de-briefing
  • Contribute to strategic program planning, budgeting and evaluation to ensure quality standards continuously meet internal and external requirements
  • Work in a culturally sensitive manner with staff and participants
  • Work closely with the Centre Manager to develop and improve staff practice

More about Our Group Work Programs

Building Stronger Families is an in language and culturally adapted group program which takes a whole family approach to men's behaviour change in a partnership project between Relationships Australia NSW and Settlement Services International.

Children and Parenting Support is an early intervention and prevention program that is aimed at supporting the capacity of those in a parenting role and improving children's development and wellbeing.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Relevant Tertiary Qualifications (minimum Diploma) in human services area (e.g. social work/sciences/welfare, health, Psychology), or related qualifications or equivalent experience
  • Approximately 5+ years' experience as an effective group work facilitator
  • Strong capability to provide clinical supervision for group and casework practitioners
  • Experience, understanding and skills in working with CALD families
  • Experience understanding and skills in working in Domestic Family Violence
  • Demonstrated competence and understanding of working within a trauma-informed framework
  • Flexibility, initiative, coordination and organisational skills
  • Able to work collaboratively within a team-based workplace
  • Strong IT skills (MS Office and relevant case and project management systems)
  • Demonstrated experience in delivering quality community services and programs
  • Criminal Record and Working with Children clearances, as well as current, valid Drivers' license
